Variable Fonts Support
A variable font (VF) is a font file that is able to store a continuous range of design variants. An entire typeface (font family) can be stored in such a file, with an infinite number of fonts available to be sampled. But I found that Lunacy does not support variable fonts.
Sometimes when I choose a variable font, Lunacy only display the thinnest weight although I choose other weights. So hope Lunacy can support variable fonts. This is a important feature for a design software.
Comments
Lunacy is falling short here – I've had to return to Figma just to get the support I need. Is there any news on this feature?
Hello, guys! We are planning to introduce this feature, and the task is already in our backlog.
We cannot release this soon because we are dependant on some libraries, that lacking variable fonts support.
Hopefully libraries will support it in 2024 and we will add this ASAP because we are also interested in this feature.
we depend on SkiaSharp library, it's lacking variable fonts support. Vote here to make it possible to implement in Lunacy: https://github.com/mono/SkiaSharp/issues/2397
Good news! Variable fonts are now supported in Lunacy.
Are there any alternative design tools that fully support variable fonts?
